Your permit’s validity starts on the date you enter the Park, which will be written on your permit at the checkpoint in Horcones or Pampa de Leñas.
Trekking Permits
This permit only authorizes the visitor to reach the base camps, i.e., to ascend to a maximum altitude of 4300m above sea level.
Visitors who wish to ascend beyond this altitude or to walk around the
Minors under 14 years are not allowed to enter the Park. Minors between 14 and 21 years must present special documents to obtain permission to enter the Park.

Winter Permits
Park Ranger consider by “winter entry”, any entry to the Park during the period from April 1st to November 14. Ascents and trekking activities carried out during this period are performed in winter conditions and require that a liability release and assumption of risk document is presented. This is necessary because – in contrast to the official season – no security services, i.e., no medical service, park rangers in the base camps or Rescue Patrols, will be available in the Park.
Resolution 950/00 regulates any mountaineering and trekking activity that is carried out during winter season.

The Department of Natural Renewable Resources only maintains a reduced staff of park rangers at the checkpoint in Horcones. Their duties include entrance control, waste removal, and reception of permits and the corresponding liability releases. This guard will remain in place as long as the climate allows it and can be suspended by the Department of Natural Renewable Resources for security reasons (e.g., risk of avalanches).
Park rangers will be available in Puente del Inca whenever the checkpoint in Horcones is closed.

Visitors are responsible for all costs that might arise from a possible search, rescue, evacuation or hospitalization during winter season.
Minors are not allowed to enter the Park during the restricted season.

Your permit’s validity starts on the date you enter the Park, which will be written on your permit at the checkpoint in Horcones. Decree 1491/03 establishes tariffs and seasons.
Visitors who purchased a trekking permit and try to ascend or reach the summit will have to pay a fine in the amount of twice the value of the permit that corresponds to their category (national or international) and the season during which the activity is carried out.
The proper authorities can waive or reduce fees only during low and middle season and in compliance with Article 5 of this Decree. Applications for a fee waiver will be evaluated based on the applicant’s situation and antecedents and the purpose of their expedition.
